Loneliness is a massive issue for people in the UK, particularly later in life. Half of all people aged 75 and over live alone, and 1 in 10 people aged 65 or over say they are always or often feel lonely – that’s just over a million people.

Shockingly, half of all older people consider the television their main form of company.

Amethyst Network of Friends is a community, in place to eradicate loneliness. We have a team of volunteers who visit those who are lonely, often just for a chat and in addition we hold a range of regular social events where people can engage and interact and make new friends.
